Combined expansive Laminoplasty and Foraminotomy for Cervical Myeloradiculopathy, a Prospective Study
نویسنده
چکیده
S cervical laminoplasty was developed in Japan in the 1970s for the treatment of ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament and degenerative spinal canal stenosis; it remained a good alternate to laminectomy. By leaving the dorsal structures in situ, laminoplasty avoids the problems associated with laminectomy such as kyphosis, instability, and delayed neurologic problems due to scar invasion; it also allows earlier mobilization and rehabilitation compared to other anterior surgical options. In addition, laminoplasty can avoid graft-related complications such as graft extrusion, settling, collapse, dislodgement, and fracture (10). The financial costs associated with laminoplasty are potentially minimized, as well, without the need for lateral mass screws and rods used during fusion (6).

Risk-factor analysis of adjacent-segment pathology requiring surgery following anterior, posterior, fusion, and nonfusion cervical spine operations: survivorship analysis of 1358 patients.
BACKGROUND Adjacent-segment pathology is an important issue involving the cervical spine, but there have been few comprehensive studies of this problem. The purpose of the current study was to determine the risk factors for adjacent-segment pathology and to compare the survivorship of adjacent segments in patients who underwent cervical spine operations including arthrodesis and motion-sparing ...

Retrospective cohort study. To evaluate efficacy and relevant problems of in situ reconstruction of extensor muscle insertion on the C2 spinous process combined with titanium miniplates internal fixation in expansive open-door cervical laminoplasty in order to improve surgical treatment effect. Expansive open-door cervical laminoplasty has been widely applied in clinical practice, but there are...

STUDY DESIGN Retrospective study. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the efficacy of bilateral C4-5 foraminotomy in preventing occurrence of postoperative C5 palsy and to identify possible risk factors for its development. METHODS A total of 70 consecutive patients who underwent open-door laminoplasty with bilateral C4-5 foraminotomy were included. Clinical, radiographic, and operative data was reviewe...
متن کاملOblique Corpectomy to Manage Cervical Myeloradiculopathy
Background. The authors describe a lateral approach to the cervical spine for the management of spondylotic myeloradiculopathy. The rationale for this approach and surgical technique are discussed, as well as the advantages, disadvantages, complications, and pitfalls based on the author's experience over the last two decades. Methods. Spondylotic myelo-radiculopathy may be treated via a lateral...

UNLABELLED The laminoplasty technique was devised by Hirabayashi in 1978 for patients diagnosed with multilevel cervical spondylotic myelopathy. OBJECTIVE To describe an easy modification of Hirabayashi's method and present the clinical and radiological results from a five-year follow-up study. METHOD AND RESULTS Eighty patients had 5 levels of decompression (C3-C7), 3 patients had 6 levels...
